its actualy traditional jewlery in their culture, i THINK its out of africa, they wear the jeawlery their whole lives, every so often, most (likely on birthdays) more is added. if the jeawery was to be taken off their nects would colapse, because the structure has never had a chance to form. the jeawlery is baisicly their neck brace. And yes it is gold. solid gold, well obviously not pure because thatd be squishy but gold none the less.
