The latest news is that in Jharkhand the state of India some residents are transforming themselves into ghosts in a ritual to propitiate Lord Shiva. This has all happened during the Hindu month of Chaitra which is normally mid-March to mid-April.
The religious ceremonies helps them get their wishes fulfilled, the ritual is actually part of the Koka festival and has been observed by thousands of people in Tamar block which is about 70 km from state capital Ranchi, and nearby villages. This ceremony goes on for three months apparently.
