Father Gareth Corkhill’s wheelie bin overfilled by four inches is taken to court then fined

wheelie-bin crisis
Let’s start a petition to get the criminal record lifted!!! You have got to be bloody serious on this latest news, a poor father of four has been taken to court and fined all because his rubbish wheelie bin was overfilled by a mere four inches. The father’s rubbish is only collected once every two weeks and yes Gareth Corkhill’s bin by this time was overfilled in where the lid would not shut properly and because the lid did not shut he ended up with a criminal record.

The 26 year old bus driver was convicted by Magistrates after evidence was heard that the lid on the wheelie bin did not shut and was four inches ajar, which apparently is against the rules. The poor father was ordered to pay £210 which is a weeks wages to him after he said no to paying an on the spot fine which was imposed by the local council’s bin police, they visited him wear stab proof vests whilst carrying photographic evidence of his crime.

To piss him off a little more Gareth Corkhill was told to pay a £15 victim surcharge to help victims of violence - despite there being no victim - and threatened with prison if he failed to pay.

wheelie-bin crisis 1

Weird Things Say – This is bloody pathetic and the world is becoming a pathetic place to live, the UK is not worth living in anymore and can see why most of the British move out of the country, the poor man has been treated like a criminal just because the lid was not shut, he would have been better off throwing the rubbish on the streets and receiving a £80 fine. When I put my bin out nice and neatly at the front of my house 10 times out of ten I find my bin 2 houses up the road, surely these dick head refuse collectors should be fined for not putting our bins back where they found them.

Answer these questions –

1. Should refuse collectors be fined for not putting our bins back outside our house neatly how they found them?
2. Do you think Father of four Gareth Corkhill has been treated unfairly?

Let us start a petition to get the criminal record lifted on this poor man, his future of new jobs are on the line as no one will employ a criminal. In the comment area please start the comment with “Lift the Criminal Record on Gareth Corkhill” then say your piece of how you feel.

  1. “Lift the Criminal Record on Gareth Corkhill”
Rarely have I felt so much anger as when I heard about this story. What the hell is this stupid human race coming to. Perhaps we should all throw our rubbish in the streets. Gareth has been treated by what I feel is a corrupt council. This is similar to fining somebody for speeding at 71 mph on the motorway when you should be doing 70. The council have invented an offence which doesn’t exist. Haven’t they got enough to do chasing up proper crime and disorder without this pathetic nonsense?
Good job they came with stab vests - funny how they must have anticipated the anger. Cant think why.
I think there should be a national campaign for common sense. Maybe I should’ve been a politician instead of an artist! Gareth and family, you are a victim of criminals called Copeland Council. I would support any campaign to clear your ridiculous criminal record. Try burglary next time - it’s far less serious.

  2. Can I ask all of you to urgently go and look at http://www.tpuc.org. You will find the answer to this problem there, plus many others. If I can contact this gentleman I will particularly refer him to http://www.tpuc.org/node/178 which may solve his problem, since what the council is doing is very probably ILLEGAL under common law. Have a word with John Harris!

  3. To Tony F - Yes, mate. You’re right. Have you heard of Common Purpose and John Harris’s campaign? Go and have a look! Also try EUTRUTH.ORG.UK
We are about to lose our country, and no-one seems to be taking it seriously. Sorry, I suppose I should sat TOO FEW PEOPLE!

  4. hi i’m the wife of Gareth Corkhill and we were absolutely devastated when we found out this fine resulted in a criminal record. The fine is ridiculous but the long years of suffering we could now face because of a criminal record is inexcusable. We will do everything we can to try and get this uplifted and thank mike for the information we have received we shall be looking into it further, thanks for the support, Claire

  5. How much was the spot fine really? I admit that fining someone £210 over this matter would be overkill, if it wasn’t for the potentially cheaper spot fine.
The rules and regulations regarding waste disposal would have been provided when the Corkhills entered into the contract including any actions that may lead to a fineable offence.
What if everyone started doing it when there wasn’t a fine imposed? keeping the lid closed keeps scavengers out.
    He deserved this.

  6. I’m the wife of Gareth Corkhill, I would like to say to mr carson, I do agree that keeping the lids closed stops the scavengers, the point of the matter was it was only ajar nothing could have gotten in nor could anything have blown out as it was secured in a bin liner! We are a hard working young family who pay our council tax, so expect our rubbish to be respectfully removed. We personally take our car to recycle all of our recycable rubbish to the proper recycle points, which probably sends out more emmisions to the environment than our slightly over filled wheelie bin. The fine came 3 1/2 weeks after christmas when most families accumulate more waste, and the fine wasn’t the problem it was the criinal record for something so silly. You can now get an on the spot fine of £80 for shoplifting and fly tipping with no further action, so I hope this information enlightens you.
